DAY 1 of the annual Smart Cities Miami Conference explores the convergence of technology, design, and development in the shaping of a new urban landscape transformed by design innovation and disruptive technology.
Join us for conversations with social scientists, humanists, engineers, administrators, and citizens, as we contemplate a future of hyper-connected environments and lifestyles. Stroll the exhibits on cutting-edge smart cities technology, apps, and services.
The School of Architecture Dean RODOLPHE EL-KHOURY (partner Khoury Levit Fong) kicks off the event with a survey of ongoing activities in UM’s Smart Cities Program ranging from the mapping of informal settlements in Latin America with the help of digital technology to the design of a smart city in Mexico. “These projects position UM in the vanguard of the field and compel us to sustain with this annual conference, a public forum on smart cities,” said Dean el-Khoury
Topical Panel discussions feature local experts and leaders in fields, such as:
- Urban Design
- Privacy and Surveillance
- Smart Buildings and Energy
- Participatory e-Governance
- Logistics and Transportation

Panel discussions are followed by the KEYNOTE SPEAKER, and Day 1 concludes with a networking reception in the Exhibit hall.
Attendance at the DAY 2 workshop is by selection only.
