The Big Data Analytics & Data Mining program seeks to conduct research in other application domains. The Big Data team is currently engaged in the following application domains:
- Biological Experiment Data Analysis (protein-protein interaction and gene expression) / High Dimensional Biological Data)
- Music Data Analysis (acoustic signals, lyrics, and user-access data) / Music Information Retrieval
- Theoretical Modeling of Biological Systems
- Genomic Sequence Analysis
- Document Analysis
Is Big Data determining the end of theory? What criteria must be satisfied by data-driven hypotheses in order to govern the new thinking behind knowledge and development?
Data Mining is an area of computer science that studies the problem of discovering interesting or meaningful patterns in large data sets, and develops knowledge out of the discovered patterns.
Wagner Meira (pictured), Srinivasan Parthasararthy, and Tao Li will discuss current issues in data mining technology in Health Records, Genomics, and Social Systems Data Mining, respectively. Please RSVP as space is limited . . .
